My poor boy has had MAJOR CHRONIC ISSUES since he arrived here as a pup... I could cry for the pain he has & must have been in forever it seems now - and the multi vets we've been to have done NOTHING but cost me thousands, STILL not able to figure it out. We've used Olewo Dehyd Carrots (& can pumpkin) for the past yr, but that never solved the root problem... then just a few weeks ago - while lying on the floor waiting for me to make everyone their food, I freaked when there was a pool of BLOOD where he was lying. NEVER SAW THAT BEFORE & we were off to the next vet (University Animal Clinic) hoping they could figure it out! Every test done & STILL NO ANSWERS - either for the blood or why he's chronically had the runs for almost 2 YEARS NOW! No parasites, no nothing that they could tell about ANYTHING & could only guess IBS/ IBD. We've tried every legume free food, every possible hand-made diet... NOTHING works to SOLVE the problem... BUT THEN I had an epiphany, when I remembered many years ago when I had C. Diff. (Clostridium Difficile) from a round of Cipro & dr's weren't able to help me after 6 MONTHS of suffering & every drug they shoved down my throat (incl metrodinazole)! It wasn't until I started doing my own research, when I gave Saccromeyes Boulardii, along with a heavy dose of Lactobacillus a try & like a MIRACLE after all that suffering, it was the ONLY THING that actually CURED my C. Diff. for ever since! SO.... I made sure it couldn't hurt, and ordered BOTH a bottle of this version for dogs & the human grade S. Boulardii for adults & children, esp considering that he's a giant breed. For the past WEEK I've been giving him 1 of each before meals (plain chicken & rice w a little can pumpkin - now adding in legume free premium kibble w grain) and like a MIRACLE for the 1st TIME IN HIS LIFE! He is going outside like a NORMAL dog! I will start cutting back on the S. Boulardii human caps slowly after a full wk, maybe to every other day while STILL giving him the dog version (that not only contains S. Boulardii, I think in a slightly smaller dose but also has all the important probiotics he needs to contain the overgrowth of C.Diff. - which I'm now pretty prositive he has). I haven't bought/ used the Olewo Carrots we became dependant on either (& they're not cheap!) since! I'm sooo happy that he's FINALLY going normally on his own! ...and am convinced that C. Diff. was the problem all along bc it NEVER goes away unless specifically treated/ only gets worse w time - and the blood also makes sense after 2 years of not being correctly treated. There is no question in my mind - it's just too bad the vets hadn't figured it out, thousands of $ later - but a vet is still better to be safer than sorry.
